Muyeez – Water

The song interpolates lyrics from Fela Kuti’s “Water No Get Enemy”, bringing a recognisable reference into Muyeez’s own writing while connecting the young singer to a much older musical tradition.

Larrylanes handles the production, and the record carries Fuji influence within the broader Afro-fusion direction explored across the album. That approach gives the opening song a distinct identity before the project moves into its other ideas.

Choosing this record as the album opener also says something about the scope of All Hail Muyeez. Muyeez begins his first full-length project by looking beyond straightforward contemporary pop references and working with material rooted in Nigerian music history.
