The United States Attorney’s office has reportedly informed news outlets that embattled Nigerian businessman and alleged fraudster, Hushpuppi, known in real life as Abass Ramon, would be sentenced on September 21.

As you may already know, Hushpuppi is currently in detention in the US after being apprehended by the FBI in his apartment in Dubai in 2020 together with 12 other people and extradited to the US for trial following accusations of fraud, money laundering and others.

This new development with regards to the ruling on Hushpuppi’s case was revealed in a statement to a television station by the court’s Director of Media Relations, Thom Mrozek from the Central District of California’s Los Angeles US Attorney’s office.

Mrozek is reported to have stated that Hushpuppi admitted guilt to the suspected $1.1 million fraud last year and will be jailed later in 2022.

“Mr. Abbas is currently scheduled to be sentenced by a federal judge in Los Angeles on September 21,” he said. According to court documents, he risks “20 years’ imprisonment; a 3-year period of supervised release; a fine of $500,000 or twice the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offense”.
