Cristiano Ronaldo is now a huge doubt for Juventus’ clash with Barcelona in the Champions League after testing positive for COVID a second time. Many outlets are reporting he is out of the highly-anticipated tie scheduled for 28th October, 2020.

Juventus have forwarded the Portuguese forward’s latest positive COVID test to UEFA meaning he has now missed the football body’s deadline of testing negative at least one week before the encounter.

However, according to SkySports, he could still yet feature as another round of testing will be done 24 hours to the encounter and if he tests negative for that, he could be allowed to face his old foe in Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo Huge Doubt for Barcelona Match after Second Positive COVID Test

Multiple sources have confirmed that Ronaldo, although a doubt for the Barcelona match remains well and is symptoms-free despite the second positive COVID test.

Ronaldo was forced to miss out on Portugal’s 3-0 win over Sweden and had to return to Italy to quarantine. Italy’s minister of sports claimed the 35-year-old may have broken health rules by doing so, but Juventus’ president, Andrea Agnelli disputes this.

Agnelli said no rules were breached and instead called on reporters to ask the Minister for an explanation as to what the breach was.

The upcoming Champions League match would be the first time Ronaldo will be facing Lionel Messi since he left La Liga for a record 100 million Euros move to Juventus in 2018.

The encounter has now been put in doubt of happening after Ronaldo’s second COVID test but with one week to go, he may yet be lucky to feature.
